Despite of her busy schedule as a public official, she find ways to reachout and go to rural areas life farms to visit and experience the basic living practices and also learn traditional business to support and meet them.

Last February 2024, she visited a small cacao farm in Nagcarlan and she's very amazed that this farm and small business. Tableya was just a simple childhood favorite of Ms. Liz Butiog until one day they decided it to be their business together with her hardworking husband Mr. Jake Butiog.

Aside from being delish, it also has health benefits. Growing up, her grandmother usually makes tableya for them on a traditional way. She ferments the cacao beans by herself and uses a stone grinder to powder it. Since then, pure tableya became one of her favorite foods.

Fueled by a genuine desire to claim something uniquely ours, they embarked on a magical endeavor. Starting small, with calloused hands and boundless ambition, their backyard evolved into a kingdom. From scratch, they mastered the ancient art of bean-to-tablet, honoring the cacao's transformation from sun-drenched pod to velvety bliss.

Today, their cozy workspace echoes the spirit of their beginnings. Their team, an extended family, shares a singular passion: capturing the essence of cacao in each handcrafted piece.

Chocobutiog transcends mere chocolate; it signifies a commitment to tradition and community. They source beans locally, fostering relationships as rich as the cacao itself. Embracing sustainable practices, they protect the land that bestows upon us this precious gift. Let's join them in savoring the story, bite by bite, as we continue to weave tradition and passion into every piece.
